Adult Small Groups

Small Groups

A small group is an intentional community gathered around a common interest for the purpose of growing in our faith and mission together. At Hixson UMC, we invite each and every person to join a small group or Sunday School class; not just as activity to add to your schedule, but as something that offers life and meaning to everything else on in your schedule.

Below is a list of current small groups and Bible studies, grouped by type. Childcare is offered during classes on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings (other times by request). Click on the links below or scroll through the entire list.

 Adult Sunday School

Each Sunday adults gather in various classes to grow together in Christian faith and community. These classes are more than just your average Sunday School, they are "Life Groups" -- Christian brothers and sisters gathering to share life; loving, supporting, learning and serving together. Each class offers a unique style of study and growth. We currently have 15 Sunday School Life Groups.

Men's Small Groups

The mission of men's Ministry at Hixson UMC is to help men grow their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In order to accomplish this, we offer men opportunities for small group study, fellowship, and service.

Women's Small Groups

Our  Women's Ministry is called "SOS," standing for "Sister's of Strength." We offer a variety of opportunities for women to connect with God, with one another, and to put their faith into action. Some of our activities are fun and light hearted, while others are more spiritually enriching.

Older Adult Groups

Older adults (age 55+) are an active and vital part of our ministry at Hixson United Methodist Church. In addition to participating in the overall life of the congregation, our older adults gather regularly for fellowship and Christian study.

Prayer Ministry Groups

Prayer Team: Tuesdays - 7:15 - 8:15pm
A very special group at Hixson UMC. The Prayer Team meets each and every Tuesday night to spend time in prayer on behalf of our staff, members and their families, and the world.

Moms In Touch: Fridays - 8:15-9:15am
This group began a number of years ago when a group of moms, each having school-age children, wanted to gather together to pray for their children and for our schools. Even though most of the children are now out of school, the moms continue to meet to pray for their children, their teachers, and the schools in our community.

Men's Prayer Breakfast: Tuesdays - 6:30-7:30am (Karl's Restaurant)
This group of men meet each and every Tuesday morning at Karl's Restaurant on Hixson Pike. They gather for a time of fellowship, support, and devotion as well as a time to pray for one another and our congregation.
