XYZ Trips

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of trips and retreats sponsored by various groups. Here are some of the trips coming up...

Upcoming XYZ (eXtra Years of Zest) Trips:

Amish Welcome Center (August 22):

The XYZ’s are planning a bus trip to the Amish Welcome Center at Ethridge, TN, (near Lawrenceburg) on Tuesday, August 22. Once there, we will take wagon tours to learn the history of the area, see some Amish schools and stop at a number of homes where we expect to see a wood shop, basket shop, soap and candle making, and if we have time, a lawn furniture shop.   The folks we visit will have home made things available for sale as well as vegetables, etc.  Please bring cash; they don’t accept credit or debit cards.

We will leave from the parking lot near the cemetery at 8 AM, stop for breakfast in Monteagle, TN, and expect to arrive in Ethridge at 10:30.  We will go on the wagon tour stopping  for lunch at the Ponderosa Steak house in Lawrenceburg.  We will leave Ethridge at 2PM and expect to arrive back at the church at 6 PM.

The Wagon tours will cost $10.00 per adult.  We will pay for our own breakfast at Hardee’s on Monteagle. Lunch at the Ponderosa can cost approximately $7.00 (each participant will pay their own).  For more information and to reserve space contact Chuck Sedgwick, csedg@epbfi.com or 423-842-7287.

Cumberland County Playhouse (October 24):

The XYZ Group is planning a trip to Crossville to see “The Drowsy Chaperone” on Tuesday, October 24th, 2017.  We plan to depart the Hixson UMC parking lot at 10 AM and have lunch at the Cumberland State Park.  We then go on to the play at 1 PM CDT in Crossville.  After the play, we plan to stop for a few minutes at the Cheese Haus for cheese, candy, etc.. We expect to be back at the church about 6:30 PM.

When a die-hard theatre fan (Jason Ross) plays his favorite cast album, the characters come to life in this 1928 musical farce.  Two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan, and an intoxicated chaperone should constitute a real romp for Mr. Ross.

This musical is rated PG and is on the Main Stage.  Costs will be $39 per person including play, lunch, and bus.  Please contact Chuck Sedgwick for tickets and more information at csedg@epbfi.com or 423-842-7287
